The Great Pyramid in the centre of the world
The Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops) is the only remainder of the seven ancient
wonders of the world. Throughout their history, they have fired human
imagination, with much speculation as to their origin and purpose, but most
evidence supports the theory that they were built by the ancient civilisation
as tombs or great monuments in which to bury their kings and nobles, a place
to start their mystic journey to the afterlife. The oldest and largest pyramid,
the Great Pyramid, is thought to have taken 20 years to build and is made of
about two million blocks of limestone. No one knows how the two-ton blocks were
moved into place, but it was known to be the tallest man-made structure in the
world for over 40 centuries.
The Great Pyramid (the Pyramid of Khufu, or Cheops in Greek) at Gizeh, Egypt, demonstrates
the remarkable character of its placement on the face of the Earth.
The Pyramid lies in the centre of gravity of the continents. It also lies in the exact
centre of all the land area of the world, dividing the earth's land mass into
approximately equal quarters.

Piazzi Smyth's "Our Inheritance in the Great Pyramid".
Charles Piazzi Smyth (1819-1900) was Astronomer Royal for Scotland
and a respected Scientist.
The Pyramid stands 146 meters high (480 feet.) That is about 50 stories high. It covers an area of 13 acres.
The platform on which this pyramid is built (made of limestone) is half an inch from being perfectly level.
After many surveys it has been proven that the Great Pyramid is built along the four Cardinal Points with extreme accuracy.
Even the golden ratio (2:3) is manifested in the great pyramid design.
As many have observed the calculation for pi is also seen in the Pyramid. (The height of the pyramid multiplied by 2 pi equals the perimeter of the pyramid. Thus the height is elegantly equal to two diameters of a circle and the base equal to the circumference of the circle.)
It is a perfect square having same side lengths and 90 degree angles – these ancient people used the geometry that we study in school today.
The Great Pyramid contains some three million huge blocks of stone, some of which weight about 15 tons.
The pyramid is built at 300N and 300S.
How did the Egyptians build the Great Pyramid? We may never discover the answer. This is one
of the great mysteries of the world.
